Who provides official translations in Greece?
In Greece, there isn’t a specific association or body of certified translators. Official translations are typically conducted by official translators who are graduates of the Ionian University. Many of these translators are also members of the Panhellenic Association of Professional Translators Graduates of the Ionian University (PEEMPIP), established in 2004 by professional translators who graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting of the Ionian University in accordance with P.D. 169 of 17.06.2002 (Government Gazette 156/2.7.02).
Additionally, official translations in Greece can be performed by lawyers who must demonstrate proficiency in the foreign language and by the Translation Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Should certified translation documents bear the Hague Apostille in order for them to be translated?
If it is required, you should ensure that it is included in your documents before you submit them for translation. In Greece, you can obtain the Hague Apostille from the Decentralized Administration of your region.
